LERA was the structural engineer for the design of two new kiosks located on the lower level of Grand Central Terminal, each surrounded by eight identical light posts. The kiosks are framed in stainless steel and fastened to the existing concrete slab. Due to a lack of knowledge regarding the strength and integrity of the existing concrete—crucial to the design of post-installed anchors—LERA administered a program of in situ anchor strength testing to provide knowledge of the concrete’s integrity.
